Beef steak and onion sausages, mash and a good onion gravy make a familiar lunch special. These butcher sausages use NZ beef and also suit a barbecue menu, where you can serve them in a roll or as part of a larger plate.
Think about the plate when choosing the sausage size. A breakfast sausage beside eggs needs to do a different job from the sausages at the centre of a main. For dietary requests, check the current recipe and allergen information with our team before you write the menu.
A FEW THINGS WORTH KNOWING
Practical details to help you plan your menu and talk through your order.
For a gluten-free menu, ask us for the current ingredient and allergen sheet and check that this exact recipe is verified as gluten-free. Seasonings and fillers can contain gluten. Your gravy, sides and kitchen preparation also need to meet your allergen controls.
Start with pieces per plate and the expected covers, then convert using the agreed sausage weight. If a sausage were 100 g, a kilogram would give ten pieces, or five two-sausage plates. That size is an example only; confirm the actual count and weight.
Compare the sausage length and cooked portion with the roll you use, rather than choosing by raw weight alone. Send us the roll size and intended presentation so we can discuss the available sausage size.
No. The meat named in a sausage does not identify its casing or every ingredient. Ask for the current casing and recipe details if a diner’s dietary requirement depends on them; don’t infer certification or suitability from “NZ beef”.
Request kilograms in 0.5 kg steps; this is not a pack size or minimum order. We’ll confirm packing, final weights and delivery charges with you. See how to order.
This local preview saves test orders only and takes no payment. Delivery is confirmed separately.
Follow the storage instructions and use-by date on the pack, and keep raw meat separate from ready-to-eat food. Plan opened packs and any thawing through your kitchen’s food control plan. Keep the product label or specification with your records so ingredient and allergen information stays with the batch.
